Tell Me About Them “Personality”:
✪Brooding - As usual with edgy characters, Shay's the guy lurking in the background, silently judging everyone and everything when he doesn’t see a need to speak.

✪Serious - Comes with the territory of having a tragic backstory. During the series, he rarely puts up with any nonsense. But after Arc V's conclusion, he would likely throw himself into something productive with single-minded determination.

✪Violent - These impulses are more under control now, but it would force anyone who truly makes Shay angry to regret it. At his worst, he would show no remorse about turning any of his foes into cards. Nowadays, Shay stays along the line of giving his opponents the hardest beat-down possible from his deck.

✪Abrasive - Giving the cold shoulder is Shay’s M.O. Not as hostile towards other people by the end of the series, but not overly friendly or approachable either.

✪Tender - Even if he still seems like a grouch, Shay occasionally shows curt yet genuine concern towards even complete strangers (unlike the original version). And don’t even get him started about his younger sister, Lulu. Or his best friend, Yuto.

✪ DUBISMS - Even though most of the time he’ll stay quiet, Shay pitches in with a sarcastic remark now and then like most “dub” personalities. He also has puns; Shay has a bad habit of making bird-related puns both while dueling and occasionally in casual conversation. Or flip an opponent's puns and cliched lines back against them with the same hamminess. Thanks to who he is, he doesn't notice the actual hilarity of these habits.

☄ First Impressions

♚ VISUAL: Shun Kurosaki. Nuff said.

With Arc V's heights emphasizing character proportions to other castmates, is somewhere between 5'8 - 5'10 ft; taller than Kite (Dub Kaito) Tenjo, but shorter than Declan (Dub Reiji) Akaba.

Arimoi Shay has two forms. His first is an extremely large draft horse-sized beast with a wolf's body and a bird's head, talons for front limbs with scaly grey skin and dark canine pads, and wings. Underneath the feathers all over his long tail and most of his body is fur, which makes him soft to touch and insulated from cold temperatures. Fluffy canine ears sit atop his head, perked up at every sound. Four pairs of pupiless eyes; one big, three that are much smaller; are arranged carefully on his face and are the same color as his normal eyes- olive yellow. Opening his beak reveals sharp teeth as well as stiff and rubbery barbs along his tongue and palate.

The other "gijinka" form gives Arimoi Shay back his normal face and original height, but he retains all other features from his larger monster form both inside and out.

♚ FASHION: What's that? Shay is all about practicality no matter the version and prefers dark or dull gray hues. But he does cling to his bright red Resistance scarf and worn out blue trench coat.

Arimoi Shay as a griffin can't wear clothes in his quadrupedal form. Eventually he has the ability to change into an anthropomorphic gijinka-like form, but anything he puts on doesn't magically carry over. Bare minimum, this version wears shorts or pants and a red sash on his torso that doubles as a kerchief for his bigger form. Sometimes he'll wear a tailored cloak on top.

♚ DEMEANOUR: Just like his original counterpart Shay is usually aloof and distant because of everything that's happened in the war. He's always alert in case trouble tries to get the drop on him, listening in on his surroundings. But almost similarly to the original's Yuto, he manages to retain a spark of gentleness towards those that have no place on the battlefield as far as he's concerned.

After character development from cold ruthlessness, although Shay still holds an air of seriousness (despite the dub script's dumbest moments), he shows an inner warmth to those he feels are true companions- true friends. And of course, nothing but a soft spot for his younger sister, Lulu.

The Arimoi Shay is all of this and perhaps a bit more somber on occasion, due to spending an extended amount of time in solitary captivity and other added suffering. He also flusters more easily; letting his animalistic instincts get the better of his judgement feels like a weakness to him.

♚ SOUND: Shay's voice is lighter and slightly younger than the original Shun's with an American West Coast accent. He doesn't have the same badass tones, but his words are nonetheless spoken with similar inner strength. Though when he's shouting or extremely angered, then Shay's voice breaks down into growly screeching.

For his Arimoi version, Shay's voice remains the same as a griffin. Due to his more avian changes, he's also gained a raven's heightened skill at sound mimicry. This extends to copying other human voices as well, but the full range of what Shay is capable of mimicking remains to be seen.

♚ SCENT: His trademark coat stinks of ash; also sweat and body odor without access to showers and plain soap.

Meanwhile Shay's Arimoi griffin self smells like bird, dog dander, and dirt. Which is arguably an improvement.

♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Overall, Shay has been hardened by the dimensional war and so has an iron will as well as an unwavering heart of courage to match. His mental defenses at their core rely on such stubbornness and the attachments he holds the most dear, making it relatively hard to make him crack or stay down.

Unfortunately for his Arimoi self, a griffin's greatest weakness just so happens to be against magic that affects the mind. While Shay's humanity means his inner resolve is unchanged toward resisting such forces, it ironically makes him fall much harder into the intended effects once he finally succumbs.

♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Arimoi Shay has a permanent touch of "blood magic" imbued into his talons that allows him to break or momentarily interrupt enchantments and the casting of spells with a single strike at their source. He can also disrupt passive spells, which would be mild and/or temporary.

Eventually he develops the ability to change into an "gijinka"-like shape that more closely resembles his regular human self (including his original size), but with still with prominent monstrous features.

This Shay is also capable of shrugging off magic conjured into projectiles and runes directly applied onto him thanks to the magic-repelling feathers all over his body, like water off a penguin's back. These feathers retain their effects even after they're plucked.

However, they do nothing against spells that work through sound, eye contact, or internal means.

♚ BACKTAGGING: Yeah, to an extent.
♚ FOURTHWALLING: Sure, he's not gonna believe it though.
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Allowed, but won't react well if startled.
♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Totally. Injuries and etc to be discussed beforehand.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: Open to the right CR, but Shay has no grasp of romance or flirting despite knowing how to make puns so it's not gonna be anything less than a slow burn.

☄ Permissions

♚ FIRST THING: Arimoi blood magic is derived from a monster feeding on humans, which specifically for griffins is by their flesh while in a strenuous physical altercation. The first tier, where Shay's anti-magic power comes from, is essentially a permanent mark on his soul for (accidentally) doing so on a single occasion and only once.

The second and more powerful tier comes from the continuously sustained practice of feeding on humans; Arimoi Shay has not done this.

♚ SECOND THING: Arimoi Shay's mind is carefully balanced between his own humanity and his animal instincts. If pushed hard enough into a truly wrathful state, he will become monstrously vicious.
